appartement-de-Joan-Rivers-à-new-york[1]Joan Rivers’ Manhattan penthouse, located off of Fifth Ave. at 1 E. 62nd Street, is available on the market for $28 million.

Rivers bought the place in 1988 and transformed it in a home Marie Antoinette would have loved to live in. It is a luxurious penthouse that takes up the top three floors of a seven-story building.

It is a Gilded Age mansion built in 1903 by millionaire John Drexel. The home was converted into condos in the 1930s, according to the Daily News.

Real estate broker Leighton Candler of the Corcoran Group is marketing the home on behalf of Rivers’ estate, which is managed by her daughter Melissa Rivers.

The entertaining space is a 5,100-square-foot, four-bedroom penthouse, which include a huge former ballroom and music room. The two Louis XIV-inspired rooms have soaring 23-foot ceilings, crystal chandeliers and antique columns. The spaces can accommodate a whopping 125 people.

There were many events and holidays hosted in the home where Rivers stayed until her death last year. However, her daughter Melissa Rivers has no intention of living in the home.

“Melissa has no interest in living in New York,” a source close to the family told the Daily News. “She’s got a son in school in L.A. She’s got ‘Fashion Police’ in L.A. She’s got a life in L.A.”

Also featured in the glorious home is a wood-paneled library, two outdoor terrace with a gorgeous view of the New York City skyline, an enormous master suit, a dining room and a separate two-bedroom, two-bath guest apartment with its own living room with a fireplace and kitchen.

“Everybody says a woman’s bedroom should look like a bordello,” Rivers told NBC’s “Today” of her apartment in 2011. “It’s such a comfort, my bedroom. It is my main closet which, again, for a New Yorker, this is huge. For anybody else in America, it’s like who cares?”

Despite the property being sold for an overwhelming amount, Melissa Rivers filed suit last month against the clinic where her mother’s fatal endoscopy was performed. She claimed that the clinic’s doctors were more concerned with taking photos that they failed to notice her failing vital signs.
